McGill IEEE Student Branch

This academic year has been a great success for McGill IEEE. The total number of members has increased more than twice in less than 6 months. Further, the undergraduate body has become twice as it was in May 2012. We have also experienced growing interest in volunteerism, in this period. The below graph shows the trend.

IEEEXtreme 6.0 has come to an end. It was a great success for McGill and Montreal as 5 teams out of the top 7 teams of Canada were from McGill! There were over 1,900 teams in this competition from all over the globe, according to the IEEEXtreme Facebook page. The below snapshot shows the top 15 teams of Canada and their rank in the globe. McGill IEEE student Branch received IEEE Region7 (Canada) Exemplary Student Branch Award for 2011-2012. The certificate was received by Mojtaba Vaezi, McGill IEEE student Branch representative on 2012 IEEE Canada Student Congress, in Mississauga, ON, on September 15, at the Delta Airport West hotel.

Congratulations to McGill IEEE Student Branch for winning the Best Student Branch Award in the Montreal Section for 2011, the year the Montreal Section celebrates its 75th anniversary. The branch counselor and student representatives accepted this honor at the Annual General Meeting of the Montreal Section held at Hotel Maritime Plaza on November 12.
